Educational Resources

I realize that I’ve encountered some fantastic educational resources out there that provide top-notch material geared in a way which is accessible to the general public.

The purpose of this page is to list them.

As I uncover other educational resources on par with these, I’ll add to this list. If you know of any, please let me know in the comments section.

Mathematics

3 Blue 1 Brown: A fantastic overview of a variety of mathematical subjects, provided in a visual way which should be accessable to anyone with a modicum of understanding of high school level algebra. (Meaning if you know that we can use a letter to represent an unknown number, you probably can follow these videos.)

He has a series which introduces calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, geometry–and frankly I wish I had these when I was in college, because sometimes visually seeing the rational behind something can be extremely helpful as you push the symbols around.

Philosophy

Philosophize This!: A podcast of roughly 20 to 25 minute audio tracks which start with the classical Greeks and works its way through to modern philosophers. His podcast is fantastic in that it captures the essence of various philosophers and their core ideas–and does it without editorializing or providing his own opinion. (Which can be important as we move into the 20th century and start talking more loaded concepts such as those behind Marxism and their critiques of capitalism, or the defenders of capitalism and capitalist systems–all subjects which we all have very strong opinions about, even if we don’t fully understand the ideas behind them.)
